Choosing the Right Accessibility Features

Accessibility isn't just about getting on and off a vehicle.

It's about giving passengers the confidence to travel safely, comfortably and with dignity.

That's why every accessibility feature should be chosen with the people using the vehicle in mind.

For some operators, a manual ramp is the right solution - schools for example, where wheelchair passengers are typically children and assistance is readily available. For others, an electrically operated passenger lift provides the safest and most practical option at the touch of a button.

The same thinking applies throughout the vehicle.

High-visibility, textured yellow grab handles and handrails make it easier for passengers to identify secure points of support. Positioned within comfortable reach, they help passengers board the vehicle with confidence.

Step access can be tailored too, from a single electric step to multi-tread fold-out steps where a lower first step is needed.

Weather screens and modesty panels improve comfort, grab handles on seat headrests provide extra support as passengers move down the aisle, and effective heating and air conditioning help create a comfortable environment whatever the weather; it's often the smaller details that have the biggest impact!

Accessibility isn't one feature, it's the combination of thoughtful design choices that makes a vehicle easier for everyone to use.
