Community Minibuses
Supporting Community Transport Since 1986
Community Transport Operators — charities, village hall committees, community car and bus schemes — often work with tighter budgets and more varied drivers than a commercial fleet, which makes getting the specification right the first time even more important. In our 30th year, Minibus Options was selected by the Department for Transport as a key supplier to deliver over 200 vehicles as part of the Community Minibus Fund, alongside a great many returning customers we've supported over three decades.
Community minibuses typically need to flex between different uses across a week — a school-run style trip one day, a day centre pick-up with wheelchair users the next, and a group outing at the weekend. We can specify seating as fixed, fully removable, or tip-and-fold, so the same vehicle adapts to whichever job it's doing, and add wheelchair access via ramp, tail lift or underfloor cassette lift depending on your typical passenger mix.
Because community vehicles are often driven by volunteers rather than paid drivers, we're happy to talk through how vehicle size and seating capacity interact with driver licensing, and to recommend a specification that keeps the vehicle usable by as many of your volunteer drivers as possible rather than restricting who can get behind the wheel. Many community operators also value practical touches like durable, easy-clean seat coverings, straightforward stowage for shopping, mobility equipment or event materials, and dependable heating and ventilation for vehicles that may sit unused for periods between bookings.
As with all our builds, every Community Transport minibus is constructed to full Type Approval standards and quoted on a firm, no hidden extras basis, so committees and trustees working with fixed grant funding or fundraised budgets know exactly what they're committing to before ordering.
If your organisation is exploring funding routes for a new or replacement vehicle, our team has direct experience of the Community Minibus Fund and similar schemes, and can talk through how vehicle specification fits within typical funding constraints.

Whether you’re an experienced fleet operator or a smaller community service, we’re here to make sure your experience is stress-free. From pre-sale advice to post-sale support, we’re committed to delivering complete peace of mind for every customer.
Recognised Expertise in Community Transport
Our dedication to helping transport for communities was formally recognised in 2016 when we were appointed by the Department for Transport as the sole provider of minibuses through the Community Minibus Fund central framework. We were honoured to be reappointed in 2017 by the Community Transport Association for the second round of the Fund.

Fleet Discounts and Flexible Financing
As a large fleet buyer, we’ve built strong relationships with vehicle manufacturers, which allows us to negotiate significant discounts. This means we can offer new minibuses at highly competitive prices, making it more affordable than ever for CT organisations to get the vehicles they need. We also provide leasing and hire purchase options tailored specifically for charity operations, helping to spread the cost over time.
Visit Our Showroom and Production Facility
We invite all community transport operators to visit our unique showroom and see the wide range of options available. You’ll also have the chance to tour our production facility next door, where you can witness dozens of vehicles being built in various stages. It might take you away from the office for a day, but we promise it’ll be a day well spent.
To make your visit even easier, we offer a charity assistance program. This covers the cost of one vehicle for your team’s journey or two standard return rail fares, plus we’ll provide lunch for you and your team during your visit.
